Irrational Exuberance!

Depicting Human Relationships

February 21, 2009. Filed under processing

This past week I've been thinking a fair amount about loyalty, and wanted to put together a visualization that reflected some of my thoughts. As I worked on it, as is usually the case, my ideas and the visualization shifted somewhat at random, and I ended up with an attempt at describing how human relationships evolve, change, appear and disappear with the passage of time.

On first viewing this may seem like a rather pessimistic view on relationships, but I really don't think it is. The animation is running a ten frames a second, and if each frame is half a year or a year, then the transience is less a threat than a companion.
