Irrational Exuberance!

April 1, 2007.

Hi folks,

I've been writing on this blog for some time now, starting in 2007. Since then, I've written almost five hundred posts, and am still writing. In 2018, I started doing some speaking as well, most notably about infrastructure migrations at QCon SF, and the infamous Digg v4 launch on the Internet History Podcast.

Most excitingly, I got the opportunity to write a book, An Elegant Puzzle: Systems of Engineering Management, which will be available in late March, 2019.

I've lived in San Francisco since about 2009, getting to work at some great companies, and increasingly during those companies best eras. Started with Yahoo! BOSS, Digg, SocialCode, Uber and now Stripe.

A long time ago, I also cofounded a really misguided iOS gaming startup with Luke Hatcher. We made thousands of dollars over six months, and spent the next six years trying to figure out how to stop paying taxes. It was a bit of a missed opportunity.

Even further back, I grew up in North Carolina, studied computer science at Centre College in Kentucky, and spent a year in Japan on the JET Program.

Always excited to hear from folks, please do drop a note!
